When Natasha thinks of her mom, she thinks of her parents' home back in Bangalore, India, where a magnolia tree curls into the terrace. This place was one of her mother's favorite places to sit and drink tea.
One of the many things the artist's mom has taught her over the years was to always find joy in the little things, and to always take the time to find that joy.
The feelings the artist hopes to invoke in this image are of wonder and contentment, of what her mom might feel sitting on that terrace observing the crows that fly by, and sharing the latest gossip about the road's stray dogs, cushioned by her love of saris and her ability to identify their types by region almost immediately.
Natasha Ranganath is an Indian American stop motion animator residing in Los Angeles, CA.
